Food Loop was born in October 2019 from an urgent desire to do something about climate change in Loudoun County. Founder, Lauren Gassman, believes everyone is called to be a steward of the earth, charged with taking care of everything we've been given on this beautiful planet. Whether that's composting, supporting local farmers and businesses, or turning off the lights when you're not using them, we can all do small things to make big change. While Food Loop is a for-profit business, the true goal is to make a sustainable, positive change for our world now and for generations to come.
After receiving the news they would be having their fourth child, due in June 2022, Lauren decided it was time to transition out of providing pick up service, drop off locations, and physically composting all the collected food waste. Food Loop now serves as an educational resource and advocate for composting in Loudoun County and its neighbors.
